Inside a Professional Chimney Sweep and Premium Stove Service

A recent appointment for one of our regular customers is a good example of what a thorough chimney sweep and premium stove service involves. The stove was working, but proper maintenance is about much more than making the outside look presentable.

What we did during this appointment

We carefully dismantled the stove and removed the accessible internal parts for cleaning and inspection. The chimney was swept and thoroughly checked, the stove was cleaned internally, and everything was then methodically reassembled.

Once rebuilt, the stove was left clean, checked and well maintained. It was a cracking improvement from where it started, and one more household was ready before the seasonal rush began.

The work people do not usually see

Much of the important work takes place inside the appliance. Soot and ash can collect around internal components, while parts such as the baffle, firebricks and door seals can wear with use.

A proper service gives us the opportunity to clean accessible parts carefully and inspect their condition. If something needs further attention or replacement, we can explain what we have found rather than simply making the outside look tidy and moving on.

Chimney sweeping and stove servicing are related, but they are not the same job

The chimney sweep deals with the flue. The stove service deals with the appliance itself.

Every chimney sweep is carried out properly as a safety-critical job. The premium service is the additional appliance work: dismantling where appropriate, detailed internal cleaning, inspection and careful reassembly.

Not every stove requires the same amount of service work. Its condition, level of use and the manufacturer’s instructions all matter. That is why we offer chimney sweeping on its own as well as a combined Sweep & Premium Stove Service.

How often should a chimney be swept?

The Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps advises that sweeping frequency depends on several factors, including the fuel, appliance, duration of use, moisture content of wood and the type of chimney. Insurance requirements may also specify a minimum frequency.

Your Guild Certified Chimney Sweep can advise on an appropriate schedule after seeing how the appliance and chimney are used and what is found during the appointment. Stove servicing is separate, and should follow the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and take account of its condition and level of use.

A genuine local example

This was not a staged demonstration or a stock photograph. It was a real appointment for one of our regular customers in Bingley, originally shared on the Bingley Chimney Facebook page.

The difference after a careful dismantle, clean, inspection, chimney sweep and rebuild was clear. More importantly, the parts hidden inside the stove had received the same attention as the parts visible in the room.

Bingley Chimney provides professional chimney sweeping and stove servicing across Bingley and surrounding West Yorkshire. Appointments can be viewed and booked online through our Book Online page.
